Vanclaron CIC

Providing for communities in Nottingham and Across East Midlands

Vanclaron was founded by its current CEO, Dr Edith Iheama, a former NHS Public Health Practitioner who led a range of health promotion programmes. After becoming an asylum seeker in the UK herself, Edith experienced first-hand the challenges of the asylum process and its impact on her and her young family’s mental health. These experiences highlighted a significant gap in community support—between clinical referrals to NHS services and having no support at all. In response, Edith established Vanclaron to address the specific challenges faced by underserved communities, particularly refugees and asylum seekers, including stigma, isolation, cultural and language barriers, and the lack of appropriate mainstream services to meet their needs.
